We take no shortcuts offering you the best decoy setups, guides, equipment, and concealment in the industry. We are your snow goose hunting guides in Nebraska and South Dakota. We target these geese as they migrate back north in Feb-April in cornfields and over water with huge realistic professional decoy setups. We start in SE Nebraska and follow the migration into South Dakota. Be sure to check out our videos and Info below.
Our guided spring snow goose hunts start the season in SE Nebraska near Loess Bluffs NWR https://www.fws.gov/refuge/loess-bluffs ( known as Squaw Creek). Millions of snow geese stage on the refuge each spring. When the geese migrate out of our area we follow the migration and continue our hunts in South Dakota.
Professional setups guaranteed! We hunt cornfields and ponds similar to the one pictured above. We run multiple setups and hunt each dependent on bird patterns and weather as well as a setup in the trailer to setup in a field we find the birds using temporarily. You can expect huge fullbody & supported windsock motion decoy setups. You can see the realism! Decoy setups typically include 2500+ decoys or more depending on the situation and how much drawing power we need
Young hunters are always welcome we enjoy sharing our passion and bringing new hunters into the sport as well as the seasoned. Our hunts are designed to accommodate everyone!
Nebraska typically has a fraction of the hunting pressure other states have in the spring. Our bordering state Missouri it’s common to see decoy setups on every hilltop. The areas we hunt/lease in Ne have more potential for big tornados of geese working our setups and huge shoots then areas where there is heavy hunting pressure. We typically harvest several banded geese every spring and the oldest one harvested this past year was 20 years old banded in Canada
With 24 years experience guiding spring snow goose hunts we know how to setup for success decoying these magnificent snow geese. All fields will be setup and ready to hunt before you arrive. Decoys will be strategically placed and blinds will be completely concealed. All other equipment will be deployed and ready to hunt. Our guides stay in the field all day to ensure your success. Weather conditions change and adjustments are required by your guide at times to continue successful decoying of geese. Our decoy spreads are set to get these geese into your face while witnessing the amazing action of these birds working trying to land in our setup. We know how to use the latest technology in motion decoys, machines and electronic calls to bring these birds in close. We have the necessary experience to make adjustments throughout the day with calls, decoys, and equipment. Whatever adjustments need to be done daily to consistently bring geese into gun range in various different conditions will be done. Thompson Outfitters LLC Snow Goose Hunting Guide/ Outfitter Guided Spring Snow Goose Hunts
We target these geese with multiple huge realistic setups of decoys both in cornfields and over water. Each setup consists of a minimum of 2500 full body and supported motion windsock decoys with the most realistic paint schemes on the market! We run multiple setups to ensure we always have hot fields. Beware of outfitters/ guides that run only one decoy setup that is hunted day after day. The honest truth is no field setup or pond setup is good every day that’s why we have multiple setups and an extra setup in the trailer in case we need it. It is not uncommon if hunting is slow in one field to move to another later in the day or evening. At times when necessary we will deploy setups of up to 5,000 decoys per setup. Motion decoys, different machines, flapping decoys, clones ( flying decoys) are also used to entice the geese to commit to working landing in our setups. Latest technology available electronic calls and sounds.
We typically run a max of 6-8 hunters and a guide per field. We can accommodate larger groups as well however they will be hunting private fields. Private fields (exclusive to that group only) are available guaranteeing your group their own private field and guide. You WILL NOT show up to hunt and there be 10-15 other hunters with you in your field. Our mixed groups do not exceed the 6-8 range. We do not jam as many hunters as we can into one setup to cash out like many other outfitters. We have multiple setups and prefer to offer quality hunts over a lot of our competitors .
Can you pick out the blinds in this picture? The geese sure didn’t in this hunt we harvested over 50 geese. Realistic lifelike decoy setups while you’re comfortable in your chair hidden in an A-frame style blind, Pitblind, or Rogers xl layout ground blind. We guarantee our blinds are comfortable and most of all the hide concealment is the best it can be. We take no shortcuts on brushing up blinds as these birds are extremely smart and being completely concealed is the great equalizer on these hunts.
This special late winter/ spring season for hunting snow geese was implemented to help control the huge population that continues to explode. The damage they’re causing to their habitat far north on the artic tundra breeding/ nesting grounds in Canada is concerning to Fish And Wildlife officials. The snow geese are destroying their own very habitat they live in. Special regulations include shooting hours extended from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset for only this special spring snow goose season. Electronic Calls are legal as well as magazine extension tubes on shotguns as there is no shell capacity requirement. There is no daily limit or possessions limit on snow, blue, or ross geese during this special season that currently runs in Nebraska Feb. 10- April 15 and South Dakota Feb 17- May 15

Unlimited Bag Limit!!!!! When you book a hunting trip with us you will have no limit on how many snow geese you can shoot. There is no possession limit on snow geese in the spring conservation seasons. The good ole days for waterfowl hunting as the ol timers would say are right now for snow geese. Don't miss this opportunity to hunt when you can potentially witness seeing thousands even tens of thousands of birds or more on a single day hunt. Snow goose populations are currently estimated at over 10 million.
While on your spring snow goose hunt with us you can legally load as many shells in your gun as the capacity will allow you. A large number of spring snow goose hunters have extension tubes on their shotguns from a few rounds to as many as 10-12. When large numbers of snow geese commit to our decoys these extended tubes allow more shooting and greater harvest potential. If you enjoy to shoot a lot then rigging one of your shotguns with an ext tube before your trip with us is recommended. We always have several guns setup available for our hunters to try and assist/install ext tubes for our hunter's shotguns daily.
A few things we recommend to bring for hunts. A 12 ga or 20ga shotgun with 3-4 boxes of nontoxic shot shells for each day you plan to hunt also in bbb,bb,2, or 1 shot. Bringing warm clothes is a must. We recommend a warm pair of coveralls, a warm insulated windproof or waterproof jacket and insulated boots. They can be a must hunting early mornings in Feb/Mar when low temperatures can be in 20s or lower. Sunglasses/sunscreen are a must as we typically are watching the skies looking up towards the sun all day long for geese. Snacks and drinks to keep you in the blind all day long. Guides stay in the field all day but hunters can choose to leave for a break or lunch at anytime.
